![]() ![]() It was the game I just kept returning to more than any other (except, maybe Fantasy Zone). I also had Wonder Boy III, mind you, but I mainly played Monster Land on the game gear. My mom and I would go with her, and my game gear and wonder boy and the battery pack made those trips completely tolerable. My sister was a cheerleader in highschool, and went to state competitions and stuff. Whenever I'd go to family reunions, Wonder Boy went with me. So, for me, Wonder Boy in Monster Land is sort of like Link's Awakening is to game boy owners. The Game Gear itself never got a huge library, and just about every cart I had growing up was a Sonic game, so I mainly played Master System games on the thing. Wonder Boy in Monster Land was instantly reborn as a portable title for me. Rather, in 1992, I got a Sega Game Gear and my first buy for the system was a Master Gear Converter. It was a game I played throughout the SMS's life, and when I got my Genesis in 1991 and the SMS was officially retired from the TV, the game didn't go away. The game being packed to the brim with secrets like that made it so much fun to keep playing. Without that boot upgrade, you can never reach it. But early on, the speed you gain is JUST enough to reach that cloud. Those kind of incremental upgrades in Wonder Boy in Monster Land are actually tiny, so they're not immediately noticeable until you have several boot upgrades that you're moving significantly faster. That's when it clicked that things like boots made you run faster, jump further. My sister was sitting beside me and she figured out that the reason she could jump further is because she had bought boots in the village before the cave. Well, she eventually died and then handed the controller off to me, and I got to that point and tried to jump to the cloud but couldn't make it. My sister was playing, and jumped over there, and managed to land on the clouds, and out popped a couple of hidden coins. You're supposed to go right and ride a cloud to the mushroom boss, but after you climb the ladder, there are a few clouds over the left side that look like they're just background art. We get to round two, and after the cave section, there is the bit where you climb the ladder into the sky. ![]() So one day, my sister and I are playing the game. A permanent item upgrade was sort of new ground for us. Things like in a shmup, a power up making you throw bombs. Usually in old games, when you got a power up, it was temporary, went away usually with damage or time, and they were things like different kinds of shots. Remember, this was 1988, we didn't have lots of previous games worth of examples of things like statistics. I recounted this story in the Monster Boy thread, but I distinctly remember when it clicked to me about stats and equipment in this game. Some of my earliest memories are of me and my sister sitting down and playing the game. I've basically played that game my entire life, very consistently. Note that both Dragon's Trap Remake and Monster Boy have physical PS4 and Nintendo Switch releases.Īdditionally, the entire series, including many of the Turbo Grafx versions, are available on the Wii and WiiU through the shop.įor myself, Wonder Boy in Monster Land is the game I have the strongest connection to. So, for the most part, all the best games are available to you. The closest you'd get is New Adventure Island on PSN, but that's only playable on the PS3 or PSP/Vita. There are no real ports of the original Wonder Boy available, although there is a really crappy remake called "Wonder Boy Returns" on steam which didn't get mentioned in this topic for a specific reason. Monster Boy will release on PC in a few weeks, but it's available on PS4 and Xbox One right now. My only gripe (personally) is that the remake removes the Charm Points system from the original Dragon's Trap, but that was always a contentious system. It also includes a new character: Wonder Girl. The remake of The Dragon's Trap includes brand new art, but also includes the ability to switch back to the original art by pressing a button: The PS4, Xbox One, and PC both saw the release of Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap remake a couple of years back. Note that, for people with an Xbox One, the Wonder Boy Vintage Collection is backwards compatible. ![]() Despite being cut down, it's still an awesome collection, because it features lots of great extras, just like a Sega Ages release: This is actually a stripped down release of the Monster World Complete Collection on the PS2, which was a Sega Ages release. The Xbox 360 and PS3 saw the release of the Wonder Boy Vintage Collection, which includes a port of Wonder Boy in Monster World for the Genesis, the first ever english-world release of the arcade version of Wonder Boy in Monster Land, and the english version of Monster World IV.

![]() This is a mistake you should avoid at all costs. ![]() With dozens of great transitions effects available in Keynote, you may feel tempted to use different effects for each slide in your presentation. Consider setting the transition duration to 0.5 seconds or lower to make the transitions look more natural. To avoid this you should always shorten the animation duration for the transitions. While animations and transitions are fun to look at they can also take the attention away from the key points you’re presenting in the slideshow. While there are many effects you can use in professional presentaions there are some you should only use for fun and entertainment purposes as well. When adding a transition animation to your presentation, make sure to pick the right effects that are appropriate for your slideshow topic, audience, and the message you’re trying to deliver with the next slide. Animations are the ones you use inside each slide to animate objects and elements in a slide. Transitions help make your presentation look natural and adds a flowing feel to it. Slide transitions are the ones you use in between slides to smoothly transition from one slide to another. While both look and feel the same they are quite different. However, it takes a lot of configuring and testing to figure out the right animations for each and every slide in your presentation. With just a few entrance animations or transition effects, you can instantly make your presentation look more professional. 50+ Best Animated Keynote Templates With Stylish Transitions On:Ī great way to make your Keynote slideshow more attractive is to use animation effects. And if you’re balking at the cost, remember that your winter tires effectively extend the life of your rest-of-the-year tires-so you’re not really spending extra money, except for the wheels. If you’re getting winter tires, buy a complete set with rims so you don’t have to mount and balance everything each fall and spring. “Two-wheel drive with winter tires beats all-wheel drive on all-seasons all day long.” Tire-inflation goop can get you home and thence to the shop for a new tire or a more permanent repair. That stuff works, at least for the kind of punctures that are repairable. You could always choose an option that’s becoming increasingly common from OEMs, which is to use non-run-flat tires and just carry a tire repair kit, which is basically a can of Fix-A-Flat. (That’s because of their super-stiff sidewalls, which have to be robust enough to enable driving when the tire is deflated.) But that’s not necessarily the case, even though your run-flat car won’t have a spare. ![]() You might think that if your car came from the factory with run-flat tires, you have to replace them with run-flat tires, which might be more expensive and almost always offer a harsher ride than non-run-flats. Plus, you might bend those wheels a lot more easily, given that a thin sidewall won’t offer much protection from potholes or inadvertent brushes with the curb. That’s because huge wheels and thin tires probably weigh more than modest wheels and tires with more sidewall, and adding rotational mass to your wheel and tire are horrible for performance. Just remember that those rubber-band sidewalls might look cool but could actually hurt your car’s performance, after a point. That’s the general rule: If you drop aspect ratio by 10, you increase wheel diameter by one inch. So, if, say, you want to go from a 205/60/16 tire (where 205 is the width in millimeters, 60 is the aspect ratio, and 16 is the inner diameter for the wheel) to a 50-profile, you’d also need to upgrade to a 17-inch wheel to maintain the same overall diameter. Otherwise, you're effectively regearing your car, as shorter tires will make your engine rev higher at a given speed, as well as causing your odometer to rack up the miles at an accelerated rate. Which means that, if you want the low-profile look, you shouldn’t just buy new tires-you have to buy new wheels, too, in a larger size to compensate for the loss of sidewall. In practical terms, aspect ratio is the height of your sidewall, and a lower number means less sidewall. Ideally, if you live in a cold climate, you’ll have two sets of tires-winter and everything else. But they won’t be useless in either context, either. They won’t have the grip of a summer or three-season tire when it’s warm out, and they definitely won’t have the traction of a winter tire in the snow. ![]() ![]() If you just want to mount one set of tires and forget about it, then get all-seasons. Jack of all trades, master of none, all-season tires are okay at everything but not particularly great at anything. Are All-Season Tires Really Good for All Seasons? So: Take treadwear ratings with a large grain of salt. Why? Because they don’t want people getting mad when their tires don’t last 120,000 miles. For instance, Michelin’s LTX A/T2 scored more than 1,800 on the UTQG test. How much it’s understated and why is up to them, but you can figure that each company looks at everybody else’s numbers for competitive tires and pegs their rating to that ballpark. Take treadwear ratings with a large grain of salt.Īnd while manufacturers can’t overstate their rating, they are allowed to understate it. ![]() ![]() We’re not saying Dolly planned it, but much like Taylor Swift, it works out… all too well. On the flipside (no pun intended), it’s completely worth pointing out that if you play Dolly Parton’s ‘Jolene’ at 33rpm instead of the usual 45rpm that singles would be played at, you get a rather gorgeous version which sounds almost too perfect. This led to anecdotal stories of fans listening to the experimental record – which utilises varying tempos and genres across its runtime – on the wrong speed without realising there was an issue. Famously, the Butthole Surfers’ 1988 album Hairway To Steven was shipped without any song titles or helpful information when it was originally released. This isn’t the first time that there’s been some issues with vinyl records and speed, either. In their defence, the different speed is not mentioned specifically, but surely they would’ve thought to switch up the speed if it sounded a bit weird… right? Of course, this isn’t exactly the fault of the fans, either, given that the large majority records play at 33rpm and usually 45rpm records have the unusual speed listed on the vinyl itself. Customers Only RED (Taylors Version) Vinyl each vinyl album features: 30 songs, including 9 songs from the. So what’s the issue? Well, due to the two-hour length of the record, it was pressed onto four separate vinyl discs, and once the songs had all been distributed evenly across the eight sides, the only way for it to be played normally was for the album to be cut at 45rpm rather than the usual 33rpm.Īs such, playing the record on the 33rpm speed you would play almost any other record means that it spins slower than intended, thereby making Taylor’s luscious voice sounding deeper and “creepier” than usual. If you head over to websites such as Amazon or the US version of Target (who have an exclusive red edition of the album available) and read through the comments, you’ll quickly find a bunch of consumers who have been confused about the record’s pressing – with many wondering why Taylor Swift sounds like “a man”. It is the second re-recording of an older Swift album, after Fearless (Taylors Version), as a result of Swifts dispute with her former record label. Originally released in 2012, this special edition of Taylor Swift's Red on numbered, crystal-clear double vinyl is available starting 11/23 in indie record stores for Record Store Day Black Friday. PCI is performed to reduce or eliminate symptoms secondary to stable or unstable coronary artery disease (CAD) or ischemic cardiomyopathy. The indications for PCI of coronary bifurcation lesions follow the same general principles for revascularization of nonbifurcation lesions. One distinction is to distinguish “true” or “complex” lesions from “nontrue” or “pseudo-” bifurcation lesions.Ī “true” bifurcation lesion involves significant (>50%) stenosis in both the MB and the SB (i.e., Medina 1,1,1 1,0,1 or 0,1,1), whereas all other lesion types would be classified as “nontrue.” It is important to recognize that angiography may be limited in terms of its ability to appropriately classify bifurcation lesions, and adjunctive modalities such as intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) may be necessary to determine a lesion’s true classification. JACC Cardiovasc Interv 2008 1:218-26.įor example, a lesion involving the proximal and distal MB without any SB involvement is classified as Medina “1,1,0”. Reproduced with permission from Latib et al. Medina Classification for Coronary Bifurcation Lesions. The Medina classification assesses plaque burden based on the presence (“1”) or absence (“0”) of stenosis in the proximal MB, distal MB, and SB (Figure 1). The simplest and most widely used is the Medina classification. Numerous classification schemes have been proposed to characterize coronary bifurcation lesions. The European Bifurcation Club defines a bifurcation lesion as a significant stenosis (i.e., >50%) in a coronary artery adjacent to and/or involving the origin of an SB that is clinically significant. The carina is the inflection point at which the proximal MB bifurcates into the distal MB and SB. Characterizing bifurcation lesions involves assessing the lesion morphology in three important anatomic segments: (1) proximal main branch (MB) (2) distal MB and (3) side branch (SB). A coronary bifurcation lesion occurs at or near a division of a major coronary artery.
